Been working on the details of the "new" Charin 16ga. Measured length and diameter of chambers. They are .016 smaller than normal dimensions (16 ga dia) and are halfway between 2 1/2 and 2 9/16. How much variation in chamber sizes have the rest of the group encountered.

It's a Charlin 16 ga, pre WWII from what I've learned. Stamped 65

Do Darnes have high amounts of variation as I've encountered with the Charlin.

Finally, I've look for names of engravers to match with what's on my new purchase and have'nt found much on the subject. Any suggestions?

For the chambers, I am not sure what is normal dimensions. Before to agree with europeen rules in the 60s the manufactures were following the rules of the St Etienne proof house, the rules changed though the century regarding the bore, the chambers, rims... The measure are quite strict but many guns have been worked later by "gunsmith", because the old rim specifications did not fit the new cartridges in another country, because willing to make the gun tighter they file the back of the barrel... I have seen it a couple of time on Darnes. On the old chamber in 65 with the " step " for paper cartridges and the cone right after, there is a lot of reasons for gunsmith to push a reamer inside.
For the engraver , I have seen 3 or 4 works of him, scenes , always the same one with little variants. 2 different ways to sign, but so far he was not remembered.
